Peppermint pinwheel cookies are tasty and they look great. Many people are intimidated by the aspect and they never really try to make pinwheel cookies. In fact, the technique is quite simple - you don’t have any reason not to make delicious peppermint pinwheel cookies. The basic ingredients for any cookie recipes are: two parts flour, one part fat (it can be butter, cream, fat yogurt, margarine or even vegetable oil), one part sugar, one egg for each cup of flour and some baking powder. You can add to the dough any flavors you prefer, small chunks of chocolate, or dried fruits pieces. Once you learn to bake cookies following this simple rule, you’ll be able to improvise and to create your unique, personalized cookies recipes, which will make a fun treat at home or for parties.
There is a basic recipe for mint cookies, a very versatile one that you can easily adjust, based on the ingredients you have on hand. The ingredients are: two cups of white flour, one cup of sugar, two sticks of butter, two eggs, cocoa powder, peppermint extract and baking powder. Take the butter out of the refrigerator and cut the butter into small cubes. Put them in a large bowl and add the rest on the ingredients one by one: sugar, eggs, flour, and then baking powder. Leave the cocoa powder and the peppermint extract aside for now. This type of dough doesn’t need a lot of mixing. You have to beat it only until the dry ingredients fully absorb the wet ones and the dough becomes elastic. If some unmelted pieces of butter are still visible in the dough, don’t worry as this is normal. The dough must be mixed in a cool place, preferably on a cold surface like a marble table.
After you make the dough, leave it inside the fridge for a half an hour. Slice the dough in two separate parts. Add two tablespoons of cocoa powder in one half and one tablespoon of peppermint extract in the other half. Then place each piece of dough on parchment paper and roll it carefully as the dough is very tender and breaks easily. Use powdered sugar to prevent sticking. After you stretch the two pieces of dough, put the minty one on top of the cocoa one and roll them together. Place the roll back in the fridge for another hour. In the meantime, preheat the oven and find a large pan. Put parchment paper in the pan. Take the dough roll from the fridge and using a sharp knife with a thin blade, cut the roll into 1/2 inch slices. Place the pan in the hot oven for about half an hour. The combination between the cocoa and the peppermint is delicious and the cookies will be tender and will remain soft for a long time. If you want the cookies to look festive, you can add some green food coloring into the peppermint dough.
Now that you know the basics of making mint cookies, you can play with the recipe. For healthier cookies, you can use whole flour instead of white floor and you can reduce the sugar quantity. You can also replace the butter with a less fatty ingredient like cream. These cookies will be a delicious treat for all occasions including just a snack at home on a normal day or party treats for birthday parties and baby showers.

Simple Chocolate Recipes
Who doesn’t like chocolate? Whether it’s Valentine’s Day or not, a lot of people just can’t help the temptation of eating chocolates. Aside from its delightful taste, eating chocolates also makes you happy. What makes chocolate even greater is that it can either be an additional ingredient for a much tastier recipe or a candy on its own.
Chocolate, either as an ingredient or as a finished product, comes in various forms. It can be white, dark, or milk chocolate. Since its discovery, chocolate has become a major part in the lives of many people. There are many complex recipes where chocolate can be used, but it is best to start off with simpler recipes when learning.
One of the simplest forms of chocolate recipes is chocolate candy. Chocolate candies come in various types. Listed below are only some of the many simple chocolate recipes everyone can try at home:
1. Peanut Butter Chocolate Delight – this particular recipe is simple but creamy and a sure mouthful. For this delicious recipe, you’ll be needing chocolate filled sandwich cookies, peanut butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, peanut butter cup candies, instant chocolate pudding, cold milk, heavy cream, butter, and softened cream cheese.
Mix crushed cookies with melted butter. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese thoroughly. Then add peanut butter and powdered sugar into the fluffy cream cheese. Beat the mixture until it gets smooth. After which, you can sprinkle diced candies over the mixture. In another yet smaller bowl, mix together the pudding, cold milk and cream. In a bigger bowl, mix the frosting mixture, last package of softened cream cheese and powdered sugar. Finally, mix the chocolate pudding mixture with the cream cheese/frosting mixture and layer the candies with it. Cover the finished product and store in refrigerator for about 4-5 hours.
2. Luscious Kay Bars – this particular recipe is a special mixture of a cereal bar, peanut butter and chocolate. The main ingredients for this recipe are brown sugar, granulated sugar, corn syrup, peanut butter, crisp rice cereal and chocolate chips. In the first bowl, mix together the sugars and corn syrup. Heat the bowl in a microwave on high for two minutes. Stir the mixture again and repeat the same heating for another two minutes. After this step, remove the bowl from the oven and add peanut butter. Stir the mixture well before adding the cereal into the bowl. After the mixture has been stirred thoroughly, spread it evenly on a greased pan.
3. Chocolate Lollipops – For this recipe, get a block of milk or white chocolate. Spray a cooking pan with non-stick grease and melt the chocolate on low heat. Stir the mixture occasionally to prevent sticking to the bottom of the pan. Pour the chocolate into molds and add a lollipop stick. Allow to cool at room temperature for a few hours.
On a separate bar, mix the chocolate chips and peanut butter and heat on medium in the microwave oven for two minutes. Repeat the same procedure until the chips are totally melted. Spread the coating mixture on top of the cereal mixture. Cover the pan and let it cool.

Candy has been a favorite treat since most people were kids. Since the dawn of its invention, candies have never lost its charm. For occasions like birthday parties or baby showers, sweet favors are the best choice to give for your guests. Here are some reasons why people like sugary treats:
1. Flavors – Candies, along with cupcakes, chocolates, cookies and brownies have a long line of flavors to choose from. So whatever flavor or variation you choose, your guests will surely enjoy them down to the last bite.
2. Easy to buy – you can buy these sweet treats almost everywhere. You can buy them at your local grocery stores, convenience stores and even over the internet. So if you are preoccupied with other schedules and preparations, you can easily buy your sweet favors with a few simple clicks on your laptop.
3. Easy to store and pack – candies and cookies can be easily stored even in places that are unrefrigerated but temperature should not be higher than the room temperature. Brownies and cupcakes on the other hand may require refrigeration. They can last long so you can buy them a lot earlier than the actual date of your upcoming baby shower. Candies already come with their own wrappers so there’s really no need for you to apply extra effort in packing them. Cookies and cupcakes can be packed in personalized cellophane bags or boxes to add creativity.
4. Few people will say no to sweets – man or woman, young or old, they all love these sweet tasty treats. It’s almost a sure thing. For this, you will be free from worrying about favors that some of your guests might not like.
5. Cheap – candies, cookies, and cupcakes don’t cost a fortune. Since they are cheap, you can buy lots of them and have plenty left over.
A lot of these treats can even be baked or made in your own kitchen. You can melt chocolate and then form them into chocolate lollipops. You can also make cupcakes and decorate them with themed icing. Cakes and brownies are also a party favorite – just use some icing and your artistic skills to customize these treats for your baby shower theme.
These sweet favors are a great addition to spending quality time with your closest friends and relatives at a baby shower party. They make you feel happy every time you eat some.
